Man arrested for multiple drug offenses in Austin

Austin law enforcement officers are constantly trying to catch those involved in drug activity. Drug crimes can range in scope from simple possession to intent to distribute to much more serious allegations. For those who are arrested on these charges, it is imperative to plan for a strong defense from the start to try to have a positive outcome.

According to a recent article, a 47-year-old man was arrested for charges related to cocaine possession with the intent to deliver. The arrest was made by several state and government agencies after serving a search warrant. An investigation had been ongoing, as cocaine had been distributed to numerous people. The warrant was served at 4:30 a.m. The man's residence was searched and he was found in a bedroom and held as the search took place. Law enforcement officials stated that 88 bags of cocaine were found. They also found eight firearms, including one that was allegedly stolen. The man had bail set at $25,000.

Another man was found outside the home asleep in his SUV. When the vehicle was searched, a small bag with cocaine was discovered. He said that the bag was given to him by a friend and he was holding it. That man was charged with possessing a controlled substance that came to less than one gram. Law enforcement officials says that a total of more than a half pound of cocaine was found in the residence of the first man.

Any drug arrest carries with it severe punishments that can change a person's life. A conviction can result in significant fines and long jail sentences. This is why those who are arrested on any drug offenses should make certain to plan a strong defense. The arrest could have violated the person's rights. There might be a misunderstanding or a person could have gotten caught in the middle of a situation that led to the charges.
